What it does

21 skills that walk Claude Code or Codex from an idea, or an app you like, to a working native Mac app in Swift and SwiftUI: brief, research, screen-by-screen capture, user stories, then one tested story per commit, with light and dark screenshots checked before each commit.

BAMA gives Claude Code, Codex and other skill-aware agents a full path for native Mac apps. A router skill (/bama) checks where your project is and picks the next step: write a one-page brief, research the market and…

A prompt to try

Use BAMA to turn my idea for a menu bar timer into a one-page brief, then build milestone 1.

Written by us so you can reuse it. Replace each [bracket] with your details.

Step by step

  1. Open the GitHub repo and read the skills table.
  2. In Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add daveebbelaar/bama, then /plugin install bama@bama (Codex and other agents have their own one-liners in the README).
  3. Type /bama in your project; it checks where you are and picks the next skill.
  4. Ask it to brief, plan and build milestone 1, and review each commit.

Watch out for

Pick one install route per agent, or every skill gets installed twice. The clone skill copies another app's screens: use it to learn from or rebuild apps you have the right to copy, not to ship a look-alike of someone else's product. Our scan flags were read by hand: a Keychain mention is advice to store secrets there, and the rm -rf only clears your own test app's saved window state.

Common questions

What does BAMA do?

21 skills that walk Claude Code or Codex from an idea, or an app you like, to a working native Mac app in Swift and SwiftUI: brief, research, screen-by-screen capture, user stories, then one tested story per commit, with light and dark screenshots checked before each commit.

Which AI agents can use BAMA?

It works with Claude Code and Codex. The code is on GitHub at daveebbelaar/bama.

Is BAMA free?

Free & open source (MIT). Needs a Mac on macOS 26+ with Xcode 26 installed for the Swift toolchain; the clone step on native apps needs computer use (Claude Pro or Max).

How do I install BAMA?

Run the install command from the README: “/plugin marketplace add daveebbelaar/bama”. Check the README on GitHub for the latest version, then follow the steps on this page.

Is BAMA safe to install?

We read 72 instruction and code files and flagged 2 patterns worth a look before installing (often normal for installers): reads browser/keychain data (in skills/code/swift-swiftui/SKILL.md); deletes files recursively (in skills/start/new-mac-app/template/tools/selftest.sh). Read the flagged lines before you install it.
