Step by step
- Open the GitHub repo and read the README.
- In Unreal Editor, turn on the ModelContextProtocol and AllToolsets plugins, then run ModelContextProtocol.StartServer and ModelContextProtocol.GenerateClientConfig ClaudeCode in the console.
- In Claude Code: /plugin install unreal-engine-skills-for-claude-code@claude-plugins-official (add the anthropics/claude-plugins-official marketplace first if it is missing).
- Start small: "list all actors in the current level", then ask for a change you can check in the editor.
Watch out for
The agent gets broad live control of your editor and can run Python inside it. Save and commit your project first and keep permission prompts on. On Windows the startup hook needs Git Bash or WSL.
