showtime: a local video studio for your coding agent

Describe a video in one sentence and your agent plans it, then your own computer renders it: motion graphics, voice-over, music, sound, captions, footage edits and platform exports, with no cloud AI and no API keys.

What it does

Describe a video in one sentence and your agent plans it, then your own computer renders it: motion graphics, voice-over, music, sound, captions, footage edits and platform exports, with no cloud AI and no API keys.

showtime turns Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Devin or OpenCode into a video studio that runs on your computer. You describe the video in plain words; the agent plans the scenes and the skill renders motion graphics,…

A prompt to try

Use showtime to make a 20-second launch video for this repo, with a voice-over and upbeat music.

From the original post, credited below.

Step by step

  1. Open the GitHub repo and read the Quick start.
  2. Install uv and Node.js, then restart your agent.
  3. In Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add FavioVazquez/showtime, then /plugin install showtime@showtime (other agents: npx skills add FavioVazquez/showtime).
  4. Ask for a video, e.g. a 20-second launch video for this repo with voice-over and music; say yes when it asks to run setup.

Watch out for

Early (version 0.4). The first run downloads models and tools and tells you the size first; bigger extras come later when a video needs them. The Claude Code plugin adds a Stop hook that updates a local cost receipt after each turn. Our scan flags were read by hand: the shell-pipe lines are the official uv and fnm installers in the README, the rm -rf entries are a block list in a benchmark config, and the keychain match is a Chrome flag that turns the keychain off.
