What it does

Give Claude Code a topic and it writes six or seven lines, voices them, and renders a faceless 9:16 reel in a cut-paper style, with a box mascot, stamps, counters and captions that land one paper scrap per word.

paper-reel turns a topic into a short vertical reel. Claude drafts six or seven spoken lines for you to approve; Kokoro reads them locally, whisper.cpp times every word, and each line becomes one scene drawn on an HTML…

A prompt to try

Make a paper-reel about uv, the Python package manager, with the comment keyword UV.

From the original post, credited below.

Step by step

  1. Open the GitHub repo and watch the example reel.
  2. Clone it into ~/.claude/skills/paper-reel, run npm install and npx playwright install chromium, then brew install ffmpeg whisper-cpp.
  3. Run bin/reel doctor; it prints the exact command for anything still missing (voice and timing models).
  4. Ask Claude Code: make a paper-reel about your topic, then approve the script it drafts.

Watch out for

macOS only for now, and a few hundred MB of voice and timing models are downloaded on first setup. The look is fixed (cut paper plus the box mascot), so it suits explainers and tool spotlights more than brand work. The renderer comes from cth9191/animate (MIT), which we also list.
