What it does

A video skill for coding agents: it cuts interviews, podcasts and tutorials from their transcripts, makes launch films and motion graphics, places animation on the right words, designs sound and checks every render, keeping picture and sound on one cue list.

Legible Film turns Claude Code, Codex and other skill-reading agents into a video assistant you can follow. It maps your clips and transcripts, writes a paper edit you can read and approve, renders it, has a second…

A prompt to try

/legible-film cut a 60-second story from interview.mp4 for people who have never heard of our product. Show me the paper edit first, then render it and check the file.

Written by us so you can reuse it. Replace each [bracket] with your details.

Step by step

  1. Open the GitHub repo and read the first-cut example (a 23-second scene from the open film Tears of Steel).
  2. Install it with npx skills add JamesDimachkie/legible-film (or as a Claude Code plugin from its marketplace).
  3. Make sure FFmpeg 5.1 or later and Python 3.9 or later are installed, then ask your agent for /legible-film setup (Claude Code) or $legible-film setup (Codex) to check your machine.
  4. Ask for the job in plain words, for example a 60-second story cut from your interview file, and review the paper edit before it renders.

Watch out for

Long jobs take time (the author's sample run took about 11 minutes). Older Linux versions ship an FFmpeg that is too old; the setup check tells you. Use footage and music you have the rights to.
