A prompt to try

$editonny Edit a 45-second vertical video from [footage folder]. Keep complete takes, cut pauses, breaths and mistakes, add clear captions, and show me a 10-second sample before the final export.

Written by us so you can reuse it. Replace each [bracket] with your details.

Step by step

  1. Make sure Python 3.9+, uv, FFmpeg and Node.js 22.13+ are installed (the agent can set up what is missing).
  2. Paste the install request from the README into Claude Code or Codex, or clone the repo and run python3 install.py --target both.
  3. Restart your agent, then call /editonny (Claude Code) or $editonny (Codex).
  4. Give it the footage folder and the result you want; it proposes its settings and waits for your OK before editing.
  5. Check the 8–15 second sample, then let it export the finished MP4 and subtitles.

Watch out for

Brand new (first release this week), so expect rough edges. The first setup downloads a renderer, a browser, a speech model and OCR, which takes a while and some disk space. Sample numbers and brands inside the motion scenes are placeholders: replace them with your real facts.
