What it does

Runs bulky tool results in a sandbox and hands your agent only the part it needs, and keeps a searchable log so it remembers what it was doing after the chat is compacted.

Every MCP tool call dumps raw data into your context window. A Playwright snapshot costs 56 KB. Twenty GitHub issues cost 59 KB. One access log — 45 KB. After 30 minutes, 40% of your context is gone. And when the agent…

Step by step

  1. Open the GitHub repo and read the README.
  2. In Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add mksglu/context-mode, then /plugin install context-mode@context-mode, and restart.
  3. Run /context-mode:ctx-doctor; every check should pass. Other agents have their own setup steps in the README.
  4. Work as usual, then run /context-mode:ctx-stats to see how much context it saved.

Watch out for

It adds hooks that change how your agent runs tools; ctx-doctor shows what is wrong if something breaks. The hosted Insight dashboard is an optional extra. The license is source-available, not classic open source.
