How to make a launch video with Claude Code or Codex

You built something. Now you need a short video to show it. These free, open-source skills let your coding agent make that video from your own project.

Checked on

What is the quickest way to make a launch video with an AI agent?

Short answer: install the free brag skill, open your project in Claude Code or Codex, and type /brag. It reads your code, plans a short film and renders it with music, motion and text to share. Then you watch it, ask for changes, and render again.

Pick your route

All of these are free and open source, and each links to its GitHub repo from its page.

Walkthrough: the brag route

We wrote these steps from the brag README and checked them against the repo. We have not filmed our own run yet, so the result videos further down come from people who did.

  1. Check what you need. An agent that supports skills, a recent version of Node.js, FFmpeg, and the HyperFrames command line tool. The README lists the exact versions. To check your setup, run npx hyperframes doctor.
  2. Install the skill. Pick the lines for your agent:
    # Claude Code
    /plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag
    /plugin install brag@brag

    # Codex
    codex plugin marketplace add latent-spaces/brag
    codex plugin add brag@brag

    # Other agents that read skills
npx skills add https://github.com/latent-spaces/brag --skill brag
  3. Open your project and ask for the video. From your project folder, type let's /brag. Or paste this prompt, which adds a mood and a review step:
/brag --tone "[the mood you want, for example calm and confident]" Before you render, show me the plan: the angle, the moments you will show and the share copy. Wait for my OK. Use only real screens, names and figures from this project. Do not invent features or results.
Voiceover is off unless you add --voice.
  4. Review before you post. brag makes a brag-output folder with the plan, a brief, the share copy and the video file. Read the plan first, then watch the video. Ask for changes in plain words, such as slower pacing, a different screen or shorter text, and let it render again.
  5. Check it and post it. Watch the final video on a phone with the sound on and off, then post it with the share copy, edited in your own words.

Make it look less like AI

  • Show your real product. Real screens beat made-up mock-ups. product-film uses your real components, and video-demo records your real app.
  • Use real figures. If the film shows results, give the agent your real ones. Never let it make up users, growth or reviews.
  • Care about sound. Pick music that fits the mood, check that you may use it, and make sure the video still works on mute with captions.
  • Keep it short. Cut any intro that does not show the product. One clear idea beats a list of features.

Safety: what the skill reads in your repo

A launch video skill has to read your project to tell its story. Treat it like any tool you give access to your code.

  • Keep secrets such as API keys and passwords out of the files the agent reads, and never paste them into the prompt.
  • Read the plan before rendering. The video and share copy can show file names, links or data from your project.
  • Check every frame before you post, especially screens that show real customer data.
  • Each skill page shows our automatic safety scan. For brag it found no red flags, which is not a guarantee: see the brag page.
